    What AEO Clients are Saying

    • "Jess Sweetin at Demand Beacon has been an outstanding partner for SafetyCall and Pet Poison Helpline's SEO, SEM, and paid search strategy. In just six months, she has driven measurable gains in targeted traffic and delivered clear campaign wins, all while tying every recommendation back to performance metrics rather than vanity numbers. Her expertise and work ethic make her a rare find, and we'd recommend her to any team that wants a partner focused on results."

What is AEO, Answer Engine Optimization?

AEO is the work of getting your business cited inside AI-generated answers, rather than ranked in a list of links.

Traditional SEO competes for a position. AEO competes to be the source an assistant quotes when it answers your buyer's question — which is a different job with different requirements. A page can rank first in Google and be completely invisible to ChatGPT, usually for reasons that have nothing to do with content quality.

The overlap is real and we don't pretend otherwise: crawlability, structure and authority matter to both. But AEO adds constraints classic SEO never had, and most sites fail them without knowing it.

    What an AEO engagement includes

Most AEO advice is guesswork dressed up as strategy — add an llms.txt, sprinkle in some schema, hope for the best. It sells easily because almost nobody checks whether it worked.

These six aren't equal parts of a package. They're a sequence of gates, and each one only matters if the one before it passes. An assistant has to be allowed to fetch your page before rendering matters. It has to be able to read it before structure matters. It has to trust the source before any of it gets quoted. We work them in that order because working them in any other order spends your money on something nobody can see.

    AI crawler access
We audit robots.txt against all thirteen AI crawlers and fix what's blocking you. Gate one: if OAI-SearchBot or Claude-SearchBot is blocked, you get zero citations from those assistants and nothing below this line can change that.

    Answer-shaped content
Question-led headings, self-contained opening paragraphs, comparisons in tables. Assistants lift discrete passages, not whole pages. Content that reads beautifully top to bottom but has no liftable passage gets read and passed over.

    Server-side rendering review
Most AI crawlers do not run JavaScript. Gate two: if your copy is injected client-side, they arrive at an empty shell. We identify exactly what's invisible and work with your developers to get it into the initial HTML.

    Entity and authority signals
Organization schema, sameAs links to verified profiles, named authors with credentials, machine-readable dates. Assistants cite sources they can resolve to a specific, identifiable business — an anonymous page loses that comparison every time.

    Prompt and query research
Keyword research asks what people type into Google. We map what they ask assistants — longer, conversational, far more specific. Without this you optimize for questions nobody is actually asking an AI.

    Citation monitoring
We track what assistants actually say about your category and whether you appear in it. Citations are measurable, and without measuring you cannot tell the difference between work that paid off and work that didn't.

How the First 90 days work

The first fix is usually the fastest and the largest. We start there.

    Weeks 1

    1

Full crawler-access audit, rendering check, and a baseline of what assistants currently say about your category and competitors. Anything blocking retrieval gets fixed immediately.

Weeks 2–4: Prompt map and content gaps

    2

We map the questions your buyers actually ask assistants, identify which ones competitors are winning, and prioritize by commercial value rather than volume.

Months 2–3 — Restructure and build

    3

Existing pages restructured to be quotable, new pages built against the prompt map, schema and entity signals implemented across the site.

    Ongoing — Monitor and adjust

    4

AI answers change faster than search rankings, and the platforms are still shifting how they source. We track citations monthly and adapt, rather than setting a strategy once.

    What does AEO cost?

Where you land depends on your site's size, how much content needs restructuring, and how much technical remediation is required before assistants can read you properly.

AEO is included in every SEO engagement we run — the foundations overlap too much to sell them separately in good conscience. Standalone AEO makes sense when your traditional SEO is already handled and AI visibility is the specific gap.

Not sure which you need? The free audit scores both, and the result usually makes the answer obvious.

Is AEO worth it for you yet?

    Probably too early if

    • You're purely local and transactional — a plumber called in an emergency isn't researched via ChatGPT

    • Your traditional SEO fundamentals are still broken; fix those first

    • You need attributable leads this quarter — AI citations are hard to attribute today

    • You have no content and no appetite to create any

For some businesses this is urgent. For others it is genuinely too early, and we will tell you which you are.

    Worth doing now if

    • Your buyers research before they buy — considered purchases, B2B, professional services

    • You've seen organic traffic soften while rankings held steady

    • Competitors are showing up in AI answers and you aren't

    • Your category has clear, answerable questions attached to it
